I got kind worried from some of the comments people are leaving about dead junipers. I bought two ACE Hardware Nursery. They both have nice green foliage and seem to be drinking up more water than I was under the impression they requested..up to being watered like 3 times a week...do these seem like healthy trees from my description. I understand juniper can be dead for months before they show..? I love these things haha. I like wired them and all..can someone hit me wit some juniper advice?

No the tree isn't dead it still grows just has a patch that doesn't grow at all or extremely slowly. The rest of the tree grows and is green. It gets fed every two weeks and gets 12 hrs of light a day every day.

indeed, I agree... bonsai with rocks glued to the top are called "malsai" and usually they are very young, dead and cheap, even the pots are usually plastic or of poor quality.

well, unfortunatly, if you have kept your juniper indoors it is probably dead by now, conifers can't breathe the air indoors, too much bacteria builds up and the tree can't defend itself, if you are interested in indoor bonsai, try tropical or sub-tropical trees like ficus, bottletree or acacia.

I have a juniper bonsai which I put in a bigger pot about two weeks after doing this I noticed a brown patch developing. I took a bonsai expert's advise and cut away the brn spots and put it back in the original pot. It is about six months later and the hole has not filled I keep this tree inside can anyone help me with this is there something I am missing. Should I put it outside? Seems kinda cold here for it to be out there. Any info is appreciated.

I'd advise you avoid that. I've seen very few of those live. They glue the rocks on the top, and therefore, no matter how much you water, it just runs off. Also, the ones you buy in the mall, especially junipers, are probably dead before you even by them (conifers can stay green and healthy looking for weeks after death). Want a cheap one? Spend $20 on Bonsai by Sunset (book) and spend about $10 on a small tree from the nursery and you can make your own.

you can buy the seeds for like $5.00 ( US doll. ) also try your mall, we have an orental shop with a bunch of exotic plants, but they are big bucks.
